Imitating vs. Duplicating

on

To imitate is to take or follow as a model.

To duplicate is exactly like something else, especially through having been copied.

Imitation is not the same as duplication.

Unfortunately, many people choose the standard of someone else’s creation to be the thing they aspire to create. What happens? A cheap copy is created in the process.

So, yes, imitate the process, habits, and focus they have that you find inspirational or helpful. The good news is you don’t have to duplicate anyone else’s thing. Because you weren’t made to duplicate.

Create something that is authentic to who you are.
