Look at the Good You’ve Created: Volume 2 Issue No. 2

Thank you for checking out our monthly donor newsletter to get the chance to look at all the good that’s been created this month through the investment of our donors and business partners!

At Loveworks we believe you are NEVER too young to be a dreamer and NEVER too old to do your dream.  We are committed to helping students discover their potential and pursue their BIG dreams with programs that focus on building character, leadership development, and entrepreneurialism. Through mentorship and experiential learning, students are equipped to make positive life choices, empowered to solve problems, and explore career paths.

In February students selected NOW Projects, local community impact projects, and chose a cause to champion.  Their projects focused on homelessness, youth, community awareness. disabilities, and animal welfare.  Each group chose a local organization to support, developed a fundraiser and collected money to donate.  Today I want to highlight one of our students, Brynnleigh, and her craft fundraiser to support her NOW project in support of Food and Shelter.  Last fall, Brynnleigh and her Afterschool Leadership group decided to develop a company that sold clay figurines and jewelry.  She fell in love with the craft and when her NOW project team was brainstorming ideas for the fundraiser she suggested making these items. The connections she made between the two projects is a great example of the growth and development we hope to see in all of our students!

Girl’s Event was a hit!  With over 70 female students and over 25 volunteers we had a blast making lip scrub and bracelets, enjoyed a variety of tasty food, including a chocolate fountain, and learned about their unique gifts, how to develop authentic relationships, and chase their dreams with Jantzen Miller. The girls were inspired by 12-year-old founder of Earrings by Emma, Emma Shelton. Starting the business at the young age of 8, she was originally looking to find earrings for herself that wouldn’t irritate her sensitive ears. Emma started making her own earrings using hypoallergenic plastic posts and now offers hundreds of styles! She hopes her business success is a huge encouragement to other young entrepreneurs. Check her podcast episode out here.

We are hopeful that you see how the support of our donors and business partners directly impacts the heart of our students and their families. Thank you to our donors and volunteers for being part of our story and investing in the lives of our students at Loveworks!
