Brooke Brown: Founder of Teach Outside the Box

Let’s hear from Brooke!

“My name is Brooke Brown! Specializing in all things literacy and STEM, I am currently in my fifteenth year of teaching in Oklahoma. I spent 10 years in the general education classroom teaching first, second, and third grade. I am now serving as a Gifted Resource Coordinator for early childhood students, teaching Gifted and Talented, STEM, Math Enrichment, and Advanced Literacy “Book Clubs” for Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade.

I love to step outside the curriculum and enrich my students’ learning experiences whenever possible! I have a passion for creating innovative products to meet the needs of my students while fostering memorable and engaging learning experiences. Teaching is my true calling, and I cannot imagine doing anything else!”

Brooke is 100% a doer! Part of that is habits that Brooke has established over her life, but she learned at a young age that practice is what pushes you forward in life. Hard work pays off!

Learning to Help Others

Growing up, Brooke’s parents modeled the idea of helping others to Brooke at an early age. They often encouraged her to be kind to others and show you care about them. In third grade, Brooke had a special teacher in her life who actually inspired her to be a teacher! She realized she could help and care for others through teaching.

From Struggling in School to Success in Life

School did not come naturally for Brooke. Her mom would help her learn new study habits, including using flashcards to study. Brooke applied those lessons to her entire life and realized they are incredibly important! Working ahead and studying are important for any job. Procrastination causes setbacks and struggles, and learning time management skills are crucial for success in life.

Beginning Teach Outside the Box

Brooke began creating teacher resources and uploading them for other teachers to use. She remembers the moment someone first bought her resources to use in their classroom. Brooke realized she was passionate about creating resources that would help and impact others both inside and outside her classroom!

Social Media/Life Balance

As Brooke works to run her business, she uses social media quite a bit. She struggles with establishing healthy habits with it. Social media can be a wonderful platform for amplifying your voice, but Brooke encourages everyone to set boundaries with it. There are more important things in life that are right in front of you than technology!

Brooke’s Advice

Don’t overthink things. Many of the things you spend time worrying about won’t actually happen. Don’t waste your time being scared of something that won’t affect you. Push the anxiety aside and be grateful for what’s in front of you!

Key Takeaways:

  • Balance your time with social media.
  • Many of the things you worry about won’t happen. Set your anxiety aside.
