Look at the Good You’ve Created: Volume 2 Issue No. 1

Thank you for checking out our monthly donor newsletter to get the chance to look at all the good that’s been created this month through the investment of our donors and business partners!

At Loveworks we believe you are NEVER too young to be a dreamer and NEVER too old to do your dream.  We are committed to helping students discover their potential and pursue their BIG dreams with programs that focus on building character, leadership development, and entrepreneurialism. Through mentorship and experiential learning, students are equipped to make positive life choices, empowered to solve problems, and explore career paths.

Afterschool Leadership students were visited by Kevin Carroll. Kevin shared his story to let us know it’s possible to have play be a part of our everyday life as we pursue our passions. No matter what others expect of you, Kevin’s story encourages us to build grit and not listen to the “haters.” Check out our podcast with him (Episode #53) on Spotify, iTunes, and our Youtube channel!

Joining us this semester is the University of Oklahoma Presidential Leadership Class, who will be sharing the leadership lessons they are learning with our students.  Last month they taught students the Habitude of Hosts and Guests, which teaches leaders are like hosts-they take initiative in relationships and serving others while guests are gracious and understanding. As a way to learn the habits of a host, students planned and threw a themed party for another student guest.

Girls Event is NEXT WEEK! Students are invited to a girls-only night to learn how to boldly lead like a young woman and uncover attributes already inside of you. They will have a ton of fun and enjoy tasty treats alongside strong, female role models and guest speakers! This year, our theme is LABELS. Sometimes, it can be tempting to fall into line with what’s most popular or what seems to be most prevalent in pop culture regardless of it truly represents us or adds any value to our lives. Instead of falling into peer pressure, living into stereotypes and low expectations, this night is meant to encourage girls to break free of the mold in order to thrive in an identity that’s uniquely their own.

We are hopeful that you see how the support of our donors and business partners directly impacts the heart of our students and their families. Thank you to our donors and volunteers for being part of our story and investing in the lives of our students at Loveworks!
