Look at the Good You’ve Created: Volume 2 Issue No. 3

Thank you for checking out our monthly donor newsletter to get the chance to look at all the good that’s been created this month through the investment of our donors and business partners!

At Loveworks we believe you are NEVER too young to be a dreamer and NEVER too old to do your dream.  We are committed to helping students discover their potential and pursue their BIG dreams with programs that focus on building character, leadership development, and entrepreneurialism. Through mentorship and experiential learning, students are equipped to make positive life choices, empowered to solve problems, and explore career paths.

During Spring Break EARLY kid business owners got to visit with local business owners including CEO Mike Beckham with Simple Modern, who gave them a behind-the-scenes look at how they develop their high-quality products. The students had the chance to try some sweet treats at Good Girl Chocolate, a healthy chocolate shop that is delicious without the guilt, and chat with the owner, Dr. Tabatha Carr. During lunch with Stacey Brandhorst, VP and Investment Principal of i2E Inc., students learned how investors work and what they’re looking for when it comes to business pitches, and when they know to invest in a company. The final stop for the business trip included another behind-the-scenes look at Altitude 1291, an entertainment hub that includes bowling, games, laser tag, food, and drinks. The students met with owner, Kyle Allison provided the students with great tips on running their businesses and free passes to play! Our business trip was certainly not your typical 9-5, but our business students got to visit some amazing offices, get the behind-the-scenes looks, and learn from stellar entrepreneurs!

Earlier this semester we got to share that our very own Michael Hirsch was selected to serve as 1 of 17 Afterschool Ambassadors across the nation for the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring children have access to affordable after-school programming in 2022.

Ambassadors fulfill their one-year term by organizing public events, communicating with legislators and community leaders, and generally increasing awareness and understanding of after-school and summer learning programs.

As an organization, we are excited about this unique opportunity to learn from 16 other top practices across the nation that are only going to make Loveworks better. We are excited to partner and grow with such an amazing organization that advocates for youth everywhere to experience quality, hands-on learning.

What a big day for Loveworks Leadership and our student-owned businesses. Our Student Business Expo was a huge success! We announced Brent Wheelbarger as our Director of Youth Entrepreneurship and we officially launched EARLY, our new youth entrepreneurship program, that will expand across Oklahoma! We are so proud of our young entrepreneurs and the hard work they put into producing their products. A big thank you to the OKC Chamber of Commerce, Norman Chamber of Commerce, our other local partners, and everyone that came out to support Loveworks Leadership and our EARLY kid businesses.

We are hopeful that you see how the support of our donors and business partners directly impacts the heart of our students and their families. Thank you to our donors and volunteers for being part of our story and investing in the lives of our students at Loveworks!
