Welcome to the Business Boot-Up Edition of The Dreamers and Doers Podcast! We believe you are never too young to start a business. We’re bringing you live interviews from Loveworks Leadership in Norman, OK. Each episode will feature one of our student-run businesses where they will be sharing what they’ve learned by starting a business to encourage you to start yours too!
Dr. Bird is a Graduate of Norman High and OU for both Undergrad and Dental school. He is in his 14th year of dental practice. He got into real estate development when he revitalized the old abandoned Lumber Yard in Downtown Norman, which is now home to his practice and two commercial rental space, and Birdie Putt Putt Course! He’s a married father of 3 and serves on the Mary Abbott Children’s house board, Norman Downtowners board, Oklahoma dental board: Dental practice committee, and OU College of Dentistry admissions board.
Sam is a 5th grader at Cleveland Elementary and joined Loveworks Afterschool Leadership last august. After living in the country and gardening with his family, he immediately connected with the Real Garden team, harvesting and pickling produce from the Loveworks garden. Selling the produce at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays has been a confidence builder. Being around the other Loveworks students, Sam became inspired to start his own micro-business with the Business Boot-Up program. With the colder weather limiting gardening, he will be selling his homemade hot-packs at the Loveworks Winter Marketplace and Festival.
